Donation – Leigh Ratcliffe & Graham and Brown

Our thanks go to Mr Leigh Ratcliffe, who works for Graham and Brown. Leigh took part in the Three Bridges 10K race and, through sponsorship, raised £102.00 for the Association. The Association is Graham and Brown’s adopted charity for the year and so they matched Leigh’s donation, raising a total of £204.00 for the Association

Many thanks to you all.

Saddleworth Beer Walk

The Annual Saddleworth Beerwalk took place on Saturday 25th May 2002. The Association had a total of 39 walkers taking part, a pleasant increase on the numbers from recent years, so we hope to have raised a good amount of money for the Association. Final figures are still not available, however, they will follow soon, along with photographs of the event.

Donation – Rochdale Police Station

Tony Anwas, Peter Shaw and Bill Taylor

In July we received a phone call from Mr Bill Taylor (who has previously taken part in fundraising activities for the Association) to say that he and a colleague at Rochdale Police Station had a cheque to present to the Tameside and Oldham branch. Bill and Tony Anwas had raised £300.22 through a sponsored slim and we arranged to go along to Rochdale where Peter Shaw accepted the cheque on behalf of the Association.

Many thanks to Tony and Bill.

Donation – Graham and Brown

Many thanks to Graham and Brown. We kindly received cheque for £203 from the ticket sales and donations by employees at a charity disco. A separate donation for £100 was also received from the company. Special thanks to Glynis Holt and Donna Berry for their help.

Ten Reservoirs Walk

10res3The Oldham & Tameside branch of the Association would like to thank Billy Westhead and all his friends and colleagues who arranged the 10 Reservoirs Walk and donated the profits to our charity. We do not know the names of all the organisers but we are aware of the amount of work they have to put in to ensure the event takes place safely and smoothly.

This year, the weather was warm and sunny but we have discovered, over the past few years, that the walkers taking part are not discouraged by heavy rain and appalling conditions. We would also like to thank the walkers who collected sponsorship money and donated that to our Association.

Shortly after the walk we received a cheque for £1,000 from Billy. We are very grateful to everyone who helped to raise such a superb amount.

Saddleworth Beer Walk

Thank you again to all the regular people who took part in the Beer Walk and to anyone else who did it for the first time. We are very grateful to you all for the contribution you make to our fundraising each year and once again we are very pleased with the total amount of money raised.

This year we would also like to thank everyone who helped with the organisation of the Beer Walk. Our Association AGM took place on the same day and without your help, we would not have been able to take part in the Walk. All the work that you put in helped to make this a successful event for the Association.

£428.63 was collected en route. A further £1,116.87 came in through sponsorship and entrance fee donations. After paying out £525 for the supper and Beer Walk entrance fees, we made a profit of £1,020.50.

We hope you enjoyed the day and we look forward to seeing you all again for the 2001 Beer Walk.
