Tony Anwas, Peter Shaw and Bill Taylor
In July we received a phone call from Mr Bill Taylor (who has previously taken part in fundraising activities for the Association) to say that he and a colleague at Rochdale Police Station had a cheque to present to the Tameside and Oldham branch. Bill and Tony Anwas had raised £300.22 through a sponsored slim and we arranged to go along to Rochdale where Peter Shaw accepted the cheque on behalf of the Association.
Many thanks to Tony and Bill.

The Association’s English AGM took place on Saturday 16th June at the Portland Basin museum in Ashton Under Lyne.
The turnout was much larger than the previous year, and a great time was had by all.
A talk was given by Marco Pozzi, a heart surgeon from Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool. Some of the slides he brought are available on Alder Hey’s web site. For more information about the day’s events, please see the article in the Events section.

Our thanks to Phil and Ann Doherty for welcoming the world – or a good part of Urmston – to their annual Garden Party. All the neighbours were invited and for a small fee we had cream teas, a bouncy castle, cake stall, tombola and raffles.
Final figures are not yet at hand but at least £250 was raised for the Association.
Roll on next year!

The Oldham & Tameside branch of the Association would like to thank Billy Westhead and all his friends and colleagues who arranged the 10 Reservoirs Walk and donated the profits to our charity. We do not know the names of all the organisers but we are aware of the amount of work they have to put in to ensure the event takes place safely and smoothly.
This year, the weather was warm and sunny but we have discovered, over the past few years, that the walkers taking part are not discouraged by heavy rain and appalling conditions. We would also like to thank the walkers who collected sponsorship money and donated that to our Association.
Shortly after the walk we received a cheque for £1,000 from Billy. We are very grateful to everyone who helped to raise such a superb amount.
