Flyers

Flyers

Hi all,
As we’ve said for a while, we have just sent out our LAST EVER paper set of event flyers. They will be arriving through the post in a week or so.
Some things are staying the same – we’ll still be holding our events, but the £500 postal costs for flyers is money that we would rather spend on events. We hope you agree.
To keep hearing about the events YOU WILL NEED TO PROVIDE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS either as a new or existing member to say we can contact you.
If you have just been a Facebook friend please join us at https://heartchild.info/web/ for free membership.
If you are already a member please email michele.casey@heartchild.info confirming that its ok to contact you.
We promise we won’t bombard you with emails – and they’ll mainly be about the events we have planned. Though as we start up this new way of contacting people you might get the occasional test email.
So what’s planned? Our events coming up wlll have you climbing the walls, weaving stories and understanding the world. We’ll be burning some calories and also making sure we have plenty of calories to burn. If you’ve got a favourite cuddly toy there’s a special event for them too.
So email Michele or sign-up online to hear about our events!!!!

Open day at Liverpool Heart and Chest hospital for people with learning disabilities.

The cardiac network ran an open day at Liverpool Heart and Chest hospital for people with learning disabilities – similar to the Alder Hey one but much quieter.
CHA have contributed to the 4 distraction bags – for AH, LHCH, MRI & RMCH.
Let the cardiac nurses know before your appointment if your child needs reasonable adjustments for their visit to hospital.
Christmas fun

Christmas fun

Over 100 of us had a wonderful afternoon at our Pizza with Elves party just before Christmas.

It is a fabulous time to make new friends and catch up with old ones too.  We had a mountain of presents courtesy of the Disney Store Manchester and the Hilton.

A big thank you to the staff at The Hilton Airport for dressing up as Elves and treating us so well.

US heart child raises money for us on holiday

Ilex is a young girl from Georgia, America who has a heart condition.

Whilst she was visiting her grandmother on the Wirral she asked if she could raise money for a local charity for children with heart conditions.  Her grandma found us and was delighted we were so close.

Ilex and the Mockbeggar Morris Dancers raised a wonderful £40 for us.  A huge thank you to them all.

CHA – not just for children

CHA – not just for children

Many years ago it was rare for heart children to reach adulthood.  Now we are delighted that most of our children will have a normal life expectancy.  The Children’s Heart Association has chosen to expand to support adults who have grown with their heart condition.

We support the cardiac forum for adults in the North West, providing funds for meetings and social events.  On the adult heart unit there isn’t WiFi so we have provided MiFi devices so our young people can stay connected to their friends in the outside world.  CHD Adults and their families are welcome to join in with our events, and their experience is vital to those with young children who are just starting their journey with a heart condition.

CHA have been invited to join the team designing the new surgical service at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital in Liverpool.  We are listening to what is important to those who will use the service to make sure the new centre is world class.
